Impressive !

Amiens was the main city behind the front of the Battle of the Somme (1916 and 1918), where soldiers came to be treated, rested and be entertained, before being sent back to the trenches. There is indisputably the gateway to the remembrance sites that have left their mark on our region forever.

During this conflict, Amiens was the most important town behind the front; many testimonies describe it as a town - along with its nearby villages - dedicated to rest and recovery, an area that was often lively and effervescent.
